hELLO!

My name is Joules Garcia, and I am an illustrator based in Italy with my wife and our cat, Thorin. I graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 2020 with a BFA in Illustration.

My art depicts joy and wonder through texture and color; I aim to make emotions tangible. I work digitally and am most proficient with the Adobe Suite. My digital work is informed through traditional practice, and I often experiment with various mediums such as RISO printing and color pencils.

As an immigrant, it is no surprise that my most profound inspirations are stories about seeking love and a home. The Little Prince, Interstellar, and more recently, Project Hail Mary are some of my favorite stories. Photography also influences my work, and serves as another creative outlet.

A few of my interests at the moment are… science fiction, queer history, cats, tiny trinkets, vintage shopping, film & digital cameras, botanical gardens, seaside walks, and cooking.
