hELLO!

My name is Joules, and I am a Filipino illustrator who was born in the Philippines, raised in the USA, and now happily settled in Italy with my wife and our cat, Thorin. 

I am a proud immigrant, and have always explored my life experiences through art. This brought me to the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where I developed a desire to make emotions tangible through vibrant color and rich texture. I work primarily in Photoshop but inform my digital practice through traditional mediums such as color pencils and wax pastels. 

After spending so much of my life moving from one country to the next, it is no wonder that I am drawn to stories about adventure and seeking a home. The full breadth of human emotion serves as my inspiration, but it is love that truly drives me. When I’m not busy romanticizing my life, I can be found indulging in science fiction, photography, and food.
